Appetite

Loss of appetite or excessive appetite are related to different patterns.

Poor appetite

  • By Spleen-Qi deficiency: with tiredness, fatigue, diarrhea, pasty stools. Cold limbs (Yang deficiency) from the fingers toward the center of the body. Pale, swollen tongue with tooth marks. Empty pulse.
  • By Dampness or damp-heat: with heaviness in the body, in the head, oppression of chest. Sticky sweat. Tongue with seborrheic coating.
  • By food accumulation: abdominal pain, bloating, sour regurgitation, sensation of sourness, tendency to constipation. Heat of the Stomach must be reduced and Spleen ascending must be facilitated.
  • By anxiety: anguish, overwhelm, dizziness. Dryness of the mouth and throat. Loses balance. Nausea when seeing fat. Related to Liver and Gall Bladder.

Excessive appetite

  1. Stomach-Heat: strong breath odor, thirst, nervousness, anxiety, heat, constipation. Dark urine.
