Ventosaterapia

Cupping therapy, also known as cupping, is becoming very popular as a result of its use by elite athletes. This is not a new therapy, it comes from Traditional Chinese Medicine that uses cups to suction blood from the tissues to the surface. It is one of the therapeutic techniques of elimination and dispersion and can be used in:

  • Muscle pain. See Painful Obstruction Syndrome.
  • Muscle spasms.
  • Dampness. Cold edemas.
  • Excess of Yin and Yang deficiency.
  • With bleeding: eliminates Heat and Blood stasis.

Types of cups:

  • Glass: vacuum is created with fire. Usually tweezers are used that hold cotton moistened with alcohol and lit. They must be used with fire prevention precautions.
  • Plastic: they use a gun to suction the air.
  • Plastic with rubber bulb.
  • Sterilized disposable plastic: to practice bloodletting with cupping.
