Intradermal Needles

Intradermal Needles

Akebane1

Intradermal needles, Hinaishin or akebane needles are very fine and short needles (less than 1 cm), with a rounded head in the form of a ring. They are placed on any part of the body, at a superficial level in the skin. Parallel to the skin surface. When placed in a fold or joint area, parallel to the flexion line.

They are used to stimulate further: they can be used on acupuncture points for energetic function or to release Ashi points. It is a gentler stimulus than conventional acupuncture, the Qi sensation is not sought. The needles are left in place for several days.

Technique

Hold the needle with tweezers. Place the needle almost lying down, pull the skin and bring the tip close to the insertion point. When you relax the skin, the needle enters by itself. Or you can pull the skin toward the needle tip while inserting it.

Then cloth tape is applied. A piece underneath the needle head (like a pillow) and another piece of tape covering on top. To remove, just pull the tape.

Duration: can be left for up to a week. You can shower but do not rub.

  • Not placed on skin lesions, scars.
  • Not placed on freckles.
