The Liver organ forms a Biao Li pairing with the Gall Bladder viscus. Being connected, what affects one can affect the other.
It can be understood that both form the Wood element, with Liver being its more Yin aspect while Gall Bladder is the more Yang aspect.
They need each other to fulfill their functions:
- The Gall Bladder stores and excretes bile whenever Liver-Qi ensures the free circulation of Qi.
- The Liver depends on the Gall Bladder to ensure the free circulation of Qi.
- At the psychological level, the Liver provides the vision, the idea, while the Gall Bladder provides the courage to make the decision to achieve the vision.
