A slow pulse is considered one below 60 beats per minute. 3 or fewer beats per each breath of the therapist.
Indicates that Yang has weakened. Lack of fire, lack of strength. Cold. It is normal in elderly people. Also in elite athletes, because they lose a lot of Body Fluids. (When they retire from sport, the pulse should return to normal rhythm; if it remains slow, Yang is deficient).
Variations
- Slow and superficial: Cold on the surface.
- Slow and deep: Cold in the deep level. Affects the organs. May indicate stagnation, Phlegm, which in the long term consumes the Yang of the body. If Yang is deficient, the 5 organs function poorly. Chronic pathology.
- Slow with strength: Cold accumulates inside and causes pain. Full-Cold, due to attack of external pathogenic energy.
- Slow without strength: Yang Deficiency, Empty-Cold.
