Pathway
It begins on the little finger SI-1 and follows the dorsal surface of the hand to the wrist at SI-5, ascends following the outer-ulnar border and inserts at the elbow at SI-8. Then it continues along the postero-external border of the arm (triceps) and reaches the posterior surface of the shoulder, inserting at SI-9. A lateral branch projects toward the axilla. On the other side it projects to the entire scapula and from the internal angle ascends toward the posterolateral neck and inserts at the mastoid process. At TE-16 it divides:
- A collateral branch inserts at the angle of the mandible at ST-6. It follows the ascending branch of the mandible and goes toward the outer canthus of the eye.
- From the mastoid region it curves behind the ear and descends in front of the ear to the area of ST-5 where it inserts. It ascends along the cheek and inserts at the outer canthus of the eye. It goes toward the forehead and reaches the Yang muscle meeting point of the hand GB-13.
