Human beings are a microcosm within a macrocosm. They are nourished and interact with heaven and earth. Everything they are exposed to in the proper proportion keeps them healthy. Their own internal vitality compensates for imbalances.
Traditional Chinese Medicine understands that the cause of disease is that which has produced the imbalance of the organism. The imbalance can be from external causes (for example the climate), internal causes (emotional management) or causes that are neither internal nor external (habits, lifestyle...).
These are the main causes of disease:
- External pathogenic energies.
- The seven passions.
- Improper diet.
- Excessive work and activity.
- Insufficient physical exercise.
- Energy blockages (from wounds, scars, cysts, tumors).
