Thin Pulse

Thin Pulse

It is a pulse in which the artery feels thread-like, thin, as if touching a thread. It is an Empty-type pulse.

  • Characteristic of an elderly person or someone with a long-term illness. In a young person it is not a good sign.
  • Indicates deficiency of Qi and Blood. It may be due to excessive expansion, or much physical and mental work.
  • If Qi and Blood move more slowly, it predisposes to stagnation: Blood stasis, dampness, fluid retention.

Variations

  • Fine and deep, pressing against the bone: accumulation of dampness at the bone level (arthrosis, joint pain, bone pain). Bi Syndrome dampness, the perverse energy has penetrated to the bone-marrow-sinew.
  • Fine and slippery: indicates accumulation of Phlegm.
