Characteristics

Xi means deep cleft.

• Clefts where energy and blood hide.
• They are used to treat acute diseases (and acute pain).
• They are also used to determine the empty/full state of the condition (with palpation). If there is disorder they are painful points on pressure.
• Xi in Yang channel -> treat organ pain.
• Xi in Yin channel -> treat blood disorders.

There are sixteen Xi-Cleft points: twelve in the main channels and four in the extraordinary channels: Yin Wei Mai, Yang Wei Mai, Yin Qiao Mai and Yang Qiao Mai.

• Heart. HT-6.

• Kidney. KI-5.
• Liver. LR-6.

Yang Channels

• Large Intestine. LI-7.
• Triple Burner. TE-7.
