Liver Qi Deficiency

Liver is quite Yang despite being Yin as an organ. In clinical practice, deficiency of Xue and Yin is more common. Liver-Qi Deficiency or Yang deficiency is not frequent.

Symptoms

  • Depression, irritability (due to Qi stagnation), discouragement
  • Nervousness, timidity
  • Tendency to be easily startled
  • Lack of joy
  • Lack of courage and initiative, indecision, fear
  • Sighing
  • Dizzy sensation
  • Blurred vision, floaters
  • Pain and distension of the hypochondrium
  • Irregular menstruation
  • Pale or normal tongue
  • Weak pulse (at the left bar position)

Causes

  1. Injury from the 7 emotions (repression, long-lasting frustration)
  2. Exhaustion, general Qi deficiency
  3. Liver-Qi stagnation over a long period of time
