Palpitations

It is the uncomfortable sensation of feeling one's own heartbeats. Associated with restlessness and nervousness. It affects the Heart, and always indicates deficiency (although there are cases that are a mix of excess and deficiency).

Heart-Qi and Gall Bladder deficiency

  • Fearful, indecisive, shy person, gets scared easily.
  • Palpitations associated with fright or startle.
  • Tachycardia in attacks. Normal frequency or bradycardia at rest.
  • Tiredness.
  • Shortness of breath.
  • Spontaneous sweating.
  • Insomnia.
  • Normal or pale tongue with thin normal coating.
  • Thin and weak pulse.
Treatment

Tonify Heart-Qi and Gall Bladder-Qi


Heart-Blood deficiency

Weak blood does not nourish the Heart properly

  • Bradycardia, normal rhythm or extrasystole
  • Tiredness, dizziness, vertigo
  • Anemia
  • Pale face and lips
  • Insomnia
  • Pale tongue with thin coating
  • Weak, thin, slow or irregular pulse
Treatment

Tonify Heart-Blood and Spleen-Blood


Heart-Yang deficiency

Same as Heart-Qi deficiency but with cold symptoms

  • Tiredness
  • Breathlessness, chest oppression
  • Pallor
  • Normal rhythm, bradycardia or extrasystole
  • Pale tongue with thin coating
  • Weak, slow, irregular and thin pulse.
Treatment

Tonify Heart-Yang and Kidney-Yang


Kidney-Yin deficiency with Heart-Fire

  • Tachycardia or normal rhythm
  • Insomnia, night sweating, heat in the five hollows
  • Mouth ulcers, tongue ulcers
  • Weakness of knees and lower back
  • Tinnitus
  • Red cracked tongue, redder at the tip
  • Thin rapid pulse
Treatment


Heart-Blood stasis

Related to angina pectoris, myocardial infarction. The cause is Heart-Yang deficiency.

  • Very intense pain
  • Bradycardia or extrasystole
  • Cyanotic or dark red tongue
  • Thin, slow, arrhythmic, choppy pulse
Treatment

Take to Emergency in acute cases. Tonify Heart-Yang and move Blood.


Accumulation of fluids in the Heart

Heart failure. It is a mix of excess (from accumulation) and deficiency (there is no correct distribution of fluids, lacking energy for it).

Causes
  1. Spleen-Yang deficiency
  2. Kidney-Yang deficiency
  3. Lung-Qi deficiency
  4. Heart-Qi deficiency
Symptoms
  • Bradycardia, extrasystoles
  • Cold
  • Dizziness, nausea, vomiting
  • Phlegm
  • Edema in the legs
  • Pale, swollen, wet tongue, thick coating
  • Slippery, slow, deep, thin, weak and arrhythmic pulse
Treatment

Tonify Heart-Yang, Lung-Qi, Kidney-Yang, and Spleen-Yang
