Stomach-Yang becomes weakened, the fire for digestion. It differs from Stomach Qi Deficiency especially in the characteristics of pain and vomiting:
- The stomach pain alleviates after ingesting small amounts of food. Food intake activates the little Yang that the stomach has and this relieves the pain, but if he eats too much it does not have enough energy to digest it all and produces gastric pain. Vomiting may contain undigested pieces of food.
Causes
- Inadequate diet: excess of cold and raw foods.
- Constitution with little Spleen and Kidney-Yang.
- Evolution of Stomach Qi Deficiency
- Attack of external Cold.
- Prolonged vomiting and diarrhea.
Symptoms
- Sensation of cold in the stomach.
- Pain that improves with palpation, with warmth and after ingesting small amounts of food.
- Abdominal distension.
- Vomiting of clear fluids, may contain undigested pieces of food.
- Prefers hot drinks.
- Pale tongue with white coating.
- Slow, deep and weak pulse.
