Name

We can highlight the relationship between ZhaoHai and Qi Hai, CV-6, "the Sea of Qi", because both share the character "Hai" which refers to the Sea. The sea represents the accumulation of all types of liquid Qi. This highlights the relationship between the Kidneys, the Lower Jiao and the Ming Men as reserves of Qi and Body Fluids.

In R6 the storage capacity of the Kidneys becomes specific to Yin Qi through its coupled the Ren Mai, "the sea of Yin". this point joins the extraordinary channel Ren Mai with Yin Qiao Mai of which it is the "master" point.

Lie Que, LU-7, is the "broken sequence" separating the Wei Qi from the Yin Qi within the Lung. It is also a master point of Ren Mai and the paired point of Yin Qiao. The interaction between LU-7 and KI-6 and their related internal functions creates a mechanism of fluid circulation and Purification that we know as Ren Mai - Yin Qiao Mai, in which the descending aspect of Lung Qi sends fluids down to the lower burner where they are purified, absorbed and distilled to return to the Lung via the Yin Qiao and the master point Zhao Hai.
