Aphonia

Clinical history

A year ago she became aphonic due to crying from a family tragedy. Since then:

  • aphonia if she talks a lot
  • hoarse voice
  • sadness
  • dizziness, with feeling of emptiness in the head
  • physical and mental asthenia
  • amnesia
  • loss of appetite
  • weakness of the lower back and lower limbs
  • amenorrhea for 3 months
  • weight loss
  • dry mouth and throat
  • red tongue with little coating
  • fine and deep pulse

Diagnosis

Therapeutic principles

  • Tonify Lung-Yin and Kidney-Yin
  • Treat the voice
  • Calm dizziness
  • Treat insomnia

Treatment

  • Treat the voice:
    • KI-4 -> Great Bell -> chronic loss of voice and chronic pharyngitis
    • LU-10 (throat dryness and sadness) + LI-18 (aphonia), LU-9 (tonification), CV-17 (zong qi point),
