Clinical history

The patient frequently suffers from chronic Diarrhea for 2 years (3/4 times a day). The Diarrhea worsens whenever he has a food imbalance, when he catches cold and when he is tired. The stools are loose and soft and sometimes with undigested food. He has morning dizziness with sensation of heaviness of the head and sometimes tinnitus. He complains of poor memory, general asthenia, low libido, fear of cold and with sensation of cold all the time. The limbs are cold. He also has poor appetite with bad digestion, frequent urination, especially at night (3/4 times at night), pain and asthenia in the lower back and legs.

The face is pale Pale tongue with white and moist coating Fine, deep and weak pulse

Diagnosis

Kidney and Spleen Yang deficiency pattern

  • Yang deficiency pattern:
    • Kidney -> low libido, frequent urination, pain and asthenia
    • Spleen -> chronic Diarrhea, loose stools and undigested food, cold limbs (pure Yang does not ascend)...

Therapeutic principles

  • Tonify Kidney and Spleen
  • Warm the Yang
  • Treat Diarrhea

Treatment

  • Back Shu with heated needles: BL-23 -> K, BL-20 -> S, Diarrhea: BL-25 (LI)
  • KI-3 -> yuan of K
  • SP-3 -> yuan of S
  • ST-36 and ST-37 (lower He-Sea of ST and LI)
  • moxa, heated needle or box: CV-4 (also is Mu of SI) + CV-6
  • GV-20 ascends the pure Yang (moxa)
