Female, 57 years old

Chief complaint

Sciatic nerve pain (the pain changes location and form).

Clinical history

  • Almost the entire left side of the body hurts.
  • Smoker
  • Takes ibuprofen for pain
  • Gets very tired
  • Chest oppression
  • No longer has uterus
  • Skin problems (psoriasis)
  • Constipation

Pulse

  • Right Cun: Deep, convex and resistant.
  • Right Guan: Medium and Wiry
  • Right Chi: No pulse
  • Left Cun: No pulse
  • Left Guan: No pulse
  • Left Chi: No pulse

Diagnosis

  • LU-Qi deficiency
  • LR-Qi stagnation

Therapeutic principles

  • Eliminate stagnation
  • Tonify LU-Qi

Treatment

Evolution

Five days passed from the first to the second appointment.

  • The sciatic nerve pain disappeared.
  • A very intense pain appeared in the left shoulder and right ribs.
  • Has not defecated for 4 days.
  • The following points were added: ST-42, BL-64, GB-40

It was decided to schedule subsequent appointments with one or two days in between.

  • The obstructed pulses appeared almost all except the Left Chi.
  • The shoulder pain continues but without much discomfort and the same with the rib pain
  • Has been able to defecate daily.
