Xue Lin Syndrome

Xue Lin Syndrome is a urinary syndrome with hematuria, blood in the urine.

Causes:

  • Damp-Heat injures the vessels, Blood overflows
  • Yin deficiency with excess fire (Kidney-Yin deficiency) that injures the vessels

Symptoms

  • Bloody urine, there may even be clots
  • Urgency, painful and difficult urination
  • Distension, heaviness in lower abdomen
  • Red tongue with greasy yellow coating (if due to Damp-Heat); or red with little coating (if due to Yin deficiency)
  • Pulse is slippery and rapid (Damp-Heat); or thin and rapid (deficiency)

The patient normally, upon seeing blood in urine, goes to a urologist.

Treatment

General for all Lin syndromes: Restore Qi transformation of the Bladder.

  • BL-22 (TR: water passages)
  • BL-28 (shu of Bladder)
  • BL-39 (Lower He-Sea of TR)
  • Globales: CV-3 (Mu) and LR-2 (if there is pain when urinating)
  • KI-3, biao li, to help the Bladder through the Kidney

Lin Syndrome of Blood:

  • SP-10: strengthen and/or cool the Blood
  • SP-6: tonify Yin, eliminate dampness, treat the Lower Burner
  • KI-2: cool fire in Kidney
