The Capa Shao Yang is one of the hinge layers, the Yang. It comprises the Triple Burner Channel and Gall Bladder Channel. These channels circulate through the lateral part of the body.
Shao Yang, in its function as a hinge, harmonizes and balances the movement of opening and closing between Tai Yang and Yang Ming. It corresponds in the eight principles diagnosis to the patterns of half-interior and half-exterior.
Pure Shao Yang syndromes are not very frequent. Normally it is combined with an opening problem (Capa Tai Yang layer) or closing problem (Capa Yang Ming layer). For example: a person with a Tai Yang syndrome has a headache but treating Tai Yang alone is not sufficient. In this case there may be a hinge problem and I apply treatment to Shao Yang as well.
