Re Lin Syndrome is a urinary syndrome of Heat type. Like a cystitis or urinary infection. Heat disturbs the Qi Ji of the Bladder, producing pain and discomfort when urinating with a burning sensation. It is rare that these cases come to acupuncture consultation because they take antibiotics.
Causes
- Normally it is due to an attack of external Damp-Heat.
- It can also be Damp-Heat from the middle Burner (Spleen and Stomach) that transmits to the lower Burner.
Symptoms
- Pain, burning, Heat on urinating (acute infection, acute cystitis, acute prostatitis)
- Frequent and difficult urination, sensation of heaviness in the lower abdomen.
- Dark, concentrated urine.
- In acute cases: fever, chills.
- Constipation
- Red tongue with greasy coating,
- Pulse: rapid (if recent: superficial)
Treatment
The Bladder is disturbed, its Qi Ji must be restored:
- BL-22 (Shu point of TB: water passages)
- BL-28 (Shu of BL)
- BL-39 (lower He of TB)
- Global: CV-3 (Mu) and LR-2 (if there is pain on urination)
- KI-3, biao li, to help the Bladder through R
Eliminate Damp-Heat:
- CV-2 (crossing of LR)
- HT-8 (great point of genitals and Heat)
- LR-5 Luo of LR
- SP-9 eliminate Damp-Heat
- If there is exterior syndrome (with fever): LI-4, TE-5
- If there is Heat: LU-7
- ST-28, CV-9
- If the Heat comes from the middle Burner: CV-12, SP-6
