Small Intestine Channel

Small Intestine Channel

Name

The Small Intestine Channel is the Hand Tai Yang.

Pathway

ID

External pathway

It arises at the ulnar nail angle of the little finger, follows the ulnar border of the hand between white and red flesh to the wrist. It passes over the styloid process of the ulna, follows the posterolateral border of the forearm to the elbow. It passes by the elbow, between the medial epicondyle and the olecranon. It follows the posterolateral border of the arm, reaches the acromion. It contours the scapula and goes to GV-14. From there it goes to the supraclavicular fossa where it bifurcates and one branch goes deep. The external pathway continues from the supraclavicular fossa, ascends the lateral aspect of the neck, reaches the cheek at the point SI-18 (below the zygomatic bone), where it divides into 2 branches:

  • One goes to the lateral canthus of the eye and unites with the Gall Bladder. From there it goes to the ear (SI-19) and penetrates the ear.
  • The other goes to the medial canthus of the eye where it communicates with the Bladder Channel, Tai Yang of the foot (BL-1).

Internal pathway

Trayecto interno principal ID From the supraclavicular fossa it penetrates the thorax, goes to the Heart, with which it establishes an Interior-Exterior relationship. Then it crosses the diaphragm, the Stomach and reaches the Small Intestine. The branch descends to ST-39 (lower He point of Small Intestine).
