Wind attack to the channels. Produces paralysis, hemiplegia, weakness, loss of strength, difficulty speaking, swallowing, facial paralysis...

Causes

  • Wind and Phlegm
  • Ascending of Liver-Yang that produces Liver internal wind
  • Phlegm and Heat
  • Qi deficiency and Blood stasis
  • Internal wind of Liver with Kidney-Yin deficiency


Wind and Phlegm

  • Tingling (Ma Mu)
  • Stiff limbs and with a feeling of being asleep
  • Muscle spasticity
  • Tremor of the limbs
  • Dizziness
  • Blurred vision
  • Tense and slippery pulse
  • Pink tongue, thick coating. Trembles and/or may be deviated.


Treatment

Eliminate phlegm and wind. Drain the channels.


Ascending of Liver-Yang – internal wind

  • Red, dry face and eyes
  • Dizziness, vertigo, headache
  • Dry and bitter mouth
  • Nervousness, agitation, irritability
  • Dry stools, constipation
  • Scant and dark urine
  • Tense and rapid pulse
  • Red tongue, yellow and dry coating


Treatment

Descend Yang and eliminate wind. Drain the channels.

Phlegm and Heat

May come from Stomach-Fire.

  • Heat
  • Thick phlegm
  • Great appetite
  • Abdominal distension
  • Constipation
  • Scant and dark urine
  • Tense, rapid and slippery pulse
  • Red tongue, thick yellow coating


Treatment

Eliminate Heat and Phlegm. Drain the channels.


Qi deficiency and Blood stasis

If deficient Qi does not move the Blood, it stagnates in the channels.

  • Loss of strength in the limbs (on the affected side)
  • Loss of muscle, atrophy
  • Paresthesia (from decreased blood supply)
  • Swollen hands and feet
  • Qi deficiency symptoms: tiredness, asthenia, palpitations, shortness of breath, spontaneous sweating
  • Blood stasis symptoms: stabbing, fixed pain. Bruises
  • Fine, weak and rough pulse
  • Pale or purple tongue, thin normal coating


Treatment

Tonify Qi and Blood, eliminate stasis. Drain the channels.


Internal wind and Kidney-Yin deficiency

  • Tingling and trembling
  • Dizziness, tinnitus, insomnia
  • Weakness of lower back and knees
  • Nervousness, agitation, irritability
  • Night sweating
  • Fine, weak and rapid pulse
  • Red tongue, little or no coating, cracks. May tremble and deviate.


Treatment

Tonify Yin and eliminate internal wind. Drain the channels.
